Cultural Experiences

As future leaders, we continually strive to build stronger ties with our communities and the individuals within them. It is through this understanding that we grow and develop broader worldviews that will shape and support our lives. We celebrate our history through traditions that honor the past while serving the future.

Our daughters (known as Ticktockers) are guided throughout their NCL, Inc.  years in various cultural experiences.

In 7th grade, the focus is on:

  • Children’s Theatre Production, Historical Tours/Visits
  • Art of Etiquette: Friendship/Relationships, Elderly Etiquette, Tea Etiquette
  • Conversation Skills: Introductions, Conversation Starters
  • Positive Identity: Hair, Make-up, Clothing

In 8th grade, the girls cultural growth is focused on:

  • Performing Arts – Musical Theater or Theater (drama)
  • Event Attendance Etiquette – Appropriate Attire, The Art of Formal Written RSVPs
  • Peer Pressure
  • Diversity

In 9th grade, the beginning of their high school years, they learn:

  • Performing Arts – Musical, Choral or Instrumental
  • Art of Etiquette – Table Manners, Setting a Table, Serving Others, General Courtesy to Others
  • Peer relationships – Keeping Alive the Good Ones
  • Body language

As Sophomores, the focus changes slightly to:

  • Environmental Talk/Movie/Related Visit
  • Appropriate Dress
  • Appropriate Language
  • Revisit Formal Written RSVPs
  • Dating

As Juniors, the Ticktockers already have a good foundation in cultural experiences. Our focus during this year is:

  • Attending a Military-based Concert/Event
  • Art of etiquette: College Visit Etiquette, Being the “Best” Guest, Revisiting Tea Etiquette

And as Seniors, as they get ready to graduate high school, the cultural focus is on:

  • Performing Arts – Class Choice
  • Art of Etiquette – Interviews, Senior Events, Appropriate Dress
  • Values – Defining Your Personal Core Values
  • Voting – An American Privilege
  • Being Involved in Your Community after NCL, Inc.
